Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 28, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Contacts Magic (the “App,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our iOS app, which is distributed only in the United States. The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email, or phone number. Instead, we rely on technical identifiers (for example, device IDs) and limited analytics data to operate and improve the App. We follow applicable U.S. data‑privacy laws—including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) where it applies—and adopt industry best practices for transparency and security.

By using the App, you agree to the data practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect data sparingly and only as needed for the App’s functionality and services. All data is collected either automatically from your device or through third-party SDKs integrated in the app. No personal contact information (such as your name, address, or contact details) is collected unless you contact us directly by phone or email outside of the App. The types of information we do collect include:

  • Unique Device Identifiers – A device‑specific identifier such as a randomly generated UUID lets us distinguish users and link purchases without knowing who you are.
  • Usage and Analytics Data – Our analytics services automatically log in‑app events (e.g., features used, session duration, button taps) and basic device information (model, OS version, IP address). This data is aggregated so we can understand engagement and improve features.
  • In‑App Purchase & Subscription Data – When you buy or subscribe, we record the product ID, price tier, and purchase date. Apple processes payments; we never see your card details.
  • Location Data – We do not collect precise GPS coordinates. We may infer your general location (such as city or region) from your IP address for analytics and service improvement purposes.
  • User‑Submitted Text (AI Processing) – When you use Magic Mode, your typed or dictated text is sent to our servers for AI‑powered natural language parsing (see “Third‑Party Services” below). This text may include names and personal details about people you know. We process the text, return structured results to your device, and do not permanently store the input. Server‑side request logs retain your anonymous user ID, timestamp, and cost metadata—but not the text itself.
  • AI Parse Feedback – If you flag an AI response as unexpected, we store the original input text, the AI’s response, and your comment so a human can review it for quality improvement. This data is automatically deleted after 90 days.
  • User Communications – If you contact us directly—such as by emailing our support address—we receive any personal information you include (for example, your email address and message contents). We use this only to respond and keep customer‑support records.
  • Device Permissions – The App may request the following on‑device permissions. Data accessed through these permissions is processed on your device and never transmitted to our servers unless stated otherwise above.
    • Contacts – Read‑only access to Apple Contacts for linking and importing contact identities.
    • Microphone – Used for on‑device speech‑to‑text dictation. Audio is processed entirely on your device.
    • Notifications – Used to deliver follow‑up reminders.

How We Collect Data

  • Automatic collection – Identifiers and analytics data flow automatically from the device or SDKs as you use the App.
  • User‑initiated collection – Magic Mode text is collected when you submit an entry for AI processing; purchases occur when you tap a purchase or subscription button; emails are collected only when you choose to write to us; flagged responses are submitted when you report an unexpected AI‑generated response within the App.

How We Use Information

  • App Functionality & Personalisation – Device IDs keep your settings and purchase records intact.
  • Analytics & Improvement – Our analytics services aggregate usage metrics so we can spot bugs, improve features, and decide what to build next.
  • AI Processing – User‑submitted text is forwarded to a third‑party AI provider to extract structured data (journal entries, follow‑ups, contact details). The text is processed in real time and is not stored by us or retained by the AI provider for model training (see “Third‑Party Services”).
  • Purchases – Purchase data unlocks content you paid for and lets you restore it if you reinstall.
  • Shared with Apple to Resolve Refund Requests – By using our app and making in-app purchases, you consent to our sharing of data regarding your usage and consumption of purchased content with Apple, as part of our efforts to resolve refund requests. This information may include details about how you have accessed and interacted with the purchased content. The purpose of sharing this data is to help Apple make an informed decision regarding refund requests. We ensure that such data sharing is done in compliance with Apple’s policies and only as necessary to process your requests.
  • Legal & Safety – We may disclose information as required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
  • Business Transfers – If we merge, sell assets, or restructure, user data may transfer to the successor solely so the App continues to function.

We never sell data to data brokers or use it for unrelated marketing.

Third‑Party Services and Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or use it for unrelated marketing. However, we do share certain data with third parties when it is necessary to operate the app and provide our services to you:

  • RevenueCat (Purchase & Subscription Management) – Receives the device/user identifier and purchase receipts to verify and restore entitlements.
  • Mixpanel (Analytics) – Receives an anonymous user ID and event data to generate usage insights.
  • Firebase / Google Cloud (Google LLC) – We use Google Cloud as our backend infrastructure for API hosting, user status tracking, and configuration delivery. Google acts as a data processor and does not independently collect data from your device through our use of these services.
  • OpenRouter / AI Providers – When you submit a Magic Mode entry, the text is forwarded through OpenRouter to a third‑party language model for parsing. No user identifiers or device information are included in the AI request. Our AI providers do not retain user inputs or use them for model training.

Changes to Providers

We may replace or add service providers that perform the same function (e.g., switch analytics or crash‑reporting vendors) without materially changing how your data is handled. When this happens, we will update this Privacy Policy.

Your Rights and Choices

We comply with the privacy rights available under applicable state laws. — California and other eligible residents can exercise their Do Not Sell or Share, Access, and Deletion rights by emailing us at compliance@disparateelements.com. Please include enough detail for us to verify the request and locate the data.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

Data Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, and other safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest. No system is 100 % secure, but we regularly review security measures and minimise what we collect.

Data Retention

  • Analytics Data: kept for up to 60 months by Mixpanel. After that, the data may be aggregated or deleted. We don’t keep identifiable analytics data indefinitely.
  • Purchase Data: We keep purchase records for as long as you have the app or any active subscriptions, and for a period after (for instance, to allow restoring purchases).
  • Backups: Some data may persist in secure backups for a short additional time before being fully deleted.
  • API Request Logs: Request metadata (anonymous user ID, timestamp, token cost, status) is retained in our database for up to 90 days before automatic deletion.
  • Flagged Parse Feedback: Original input text and feedback comments are retained for up to 90 days before automatic deletion.
  • Support emails: Emails that you send to us may be kept for up to 5 years.

We delete or anonymise data when no longer needed or when you request deletion (subject to lawful exceptions).

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. The App and its content are not directed to children under 13, and we design our app with the intent that it appeals to a general audience. If we learn we have inadvertently gathered such data, we will delete it promptly. By using the App, you confirm you are at least 13 years old.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in law, services, or practices. Material changes will be announced in‑app or on our website. Check the “Last updated” date for the latest version. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically for the latest information on our privacy practices.
